Fulfil their instincts, unlock their potential
Built with sighthounds in mind
Understand your hound
It’s no secret I adore living and working with sighthounds and part of why is because there is such a variety in personality and quirks. Whilst there are similarities between them each one is truly unique and my favourite part of training is always taking the time to understand the dog in front of me. What is their favourite part of the prey sequence? What do they truly find rewarding? When they are behaving in a certain way, why? What are they trying to achieve? The question I then ask myself is how can I incorporate this into their training plan.
For the most part sighthounds have been bred to spot movement and run. That instinct is part of who they are, and I'm a big believer in working with it rather than against it. I love to utilise their prey drive to fulfil their genetic needs. They can also be impulsive, sensitive and silly... the list goes on! So whether you’ve got a worried whippet who needs some help coming out of their shell or a looney lurcher testing your patience I’m happy to help!
How I can help

Everyday life skills
From general obedience, lead walking, impulse control/manners, settling at home & in public and everything in between.

Engagement
Does your dog forget their own name and who you are when you leave the house? Is the world too exciting or overwhelming and overshadowing your training efforts? Building engagement and motivation is something we can have lots of fun with!

Reliable recall
There seems to be a myth that sighthounds can never be let off the lead, not something you’ll ever hear me say! Sighthounds LOVE to run- it’s our job to help them enjoy that freedom safely.

Rescue support
Recently adopted a dog that needs some help? With years of experience working hands on with a huge variety of rescue dogs from all kinds of difficult backgrounds and helping support adopters with the challenges that can come post-adoption this is something that I am passionate about and eager to help with.

Confidence building
A huge topic I’m proud to say I have plenty of experience in. I’ve worked with and fostered dogs that have initially been too terrified to leave the house, dogs that are naturally sensitive or afraid of certain things and puppies where confidence building is a priority to set them up for success.

Genetic fulfilment
Fun-lure coursing, play skills and Lincolnshire Obedience Club- just some of the amazing ways to give your dog a safe outlet for what they were bred to enjoy.
Education
Over the years I have invested so much time and money into learning as much as I can. In 2023 I completed PACT's Level 4 Canine Training Instructor course. I've also attended numerous workshops with incredible trainers, along with additional theory learning in webinars and Level 3 courses. Recently I was chosen to receive a scholarship with the School of Canine Science for their behaviour programme, so I am now working towards achieving their Level 6 Behaviourist qualification.

Q&A
Can sighthounds learn recall?
In short, yes! Sighthounds love to run and I think it's important to be able to give them that opportunity. My approach is to build strong motivation and solid foundations, utilising their prey drive. It requires some dedication from you to put the time in, but I am happy to help anyone who is eager to train their dog reliable recall!
Do you only train sighthounds?
No! It's no secret sighthounds have a special place in my heart, but I have 7 years of experience working with a huge variety of dogs, from terrified overseas rescues to overexcited teenagers. I have a soft spot for Romanian rescues too.
How much does training cost?
I have created various training options so you can choose which suits you and your dog. Take a look at my services.
